"What do you think makes GU one of the best universities?"
Alejandro Romero:  "Why do you prefer GU from other university's?"

Received answers:

"What was the best thing about studying at GU?"

I absolutely loved studying at Georgetown and I can easily say it was the best 4 years of  my life thus far. While it is hard to pick one specific thing, I would say it was all the friends I made and experiences I had. I truly feel that I not only did I grow intellectually and personally, but I had fun in the process. I wouldn't be the person I am today if not for Georgetown. I truly believe Georgetown gives you the best of both worlds---top level education and a sense of community that is hard to find in many univeristies.
"What do you think makes GU better than other colleges?"
  • work-life balance (has the best of both worlds)--Ivy league caliber education yet united community behind sports teams. People work hard and play hard.
  • the people are truly amazing and I have made friends for life. You learn just as mcuh from your peers as you do from you professors
  • The Jesuit ideals of the university set it apart and its emphasis on "cura personalis" or cure of the entire person. In other words, Georgetown wants you to grow intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, physically, etc. It also has a strong focus on men and women for others and having an impact on the greater community.
  • Georgetown is very focused on its undergrads
"Hows life at GU?"

"Why did you pick to go to GU?"
I chose Georgetown for a number of reasons and conducted very thorough college research and visits beforehand. First of all, I wanted to go the School of Foreign Service (SFS) and Georgetown has the premier and only program. Second, the university encompassed all the values I was looking for and knew it would help me grow as a person as well. Third, it was located in DC (tons of great opportunities) and was a perfect size (not too big not too small). Another reason I chose Georgetown was the sense of community I felt upon walking on campus. Students are cooperative and there isn´t the cut throat competition that you see in other places. People work together and focusing on competing with themselves. Lastly, I was incredibly impressed by the students, alumni, and professors I met and wanted to be a part of this community.

Here is an article about a student who currently goes in to Georgetown , he talks about the good things about GU and attending GU and a couple of things she would change to make it even a better university.

http://www.unigo.com/georgetown_university/reviews/
This page is great , it has sevral articles written by students from GU urrently or exgraduates and it even has an option if you want to comunicate with a specific student and ask him/he questions about GU.

Many students say the GU's location is the best , its close enough to washington to not feel in the middle of nowhere but far enough to feel in a clean safe and free campus apart from the busyiness of the city.

GU has a website where some jobs advertise their companies etc. and GU students can submit an application to the job the calls their attention and the Job personal will then decide to hire the GU student or no.Their are on campus jobs and off campus.

Areas of study at GU:
  • Business and Economics
  • Education
  • English and Comparative Literature
  • Government, Politics and Policy
  • History
  • International Affairs

  • Law

  • Summary of what I learned:
The school garduates really aprciate their school , they really like it and are very proud of it. Georgetown has sevral options and oportunities for students in teh academic section as well as the athletic section.

    Phising

    -Topic name
    -Correct label (TOPICS)
-What you know about the topic before your research
-What you wonder or questions you have about the topic before researching (at least 2)
-Links to where you found the most useful information (at least 2, NOT Wikipedia, although you can use it to help you)
-Bullet list of things you learned about the topic (at least 5)
-A short summary of how this topic connects/relates to you or your life
-Questions you still have (at least 1)

I don't know much about this topic , I know its kind of a way to get your personal and private information without you being conciuos of it.

I wonder how to know how to avoid these things and I also wonder what to do if it happens to you.

    What I learned

Phishing is a way of obtaining your personal and private information such as passwords accounts and things you would rather keep private. The people that do this do it in a way the you will give them your information but no intentionally knowing whats really happening and what they plan and using it for.

What hey do to make it seem more real is that they send you an email like if it was from Facebook and give you a link to click on and then kind of threat you to do it saying that they're will be consequences such as your Facebook closing if you don't do it and then they put some fake company signature.

Some ways to look out for fishing are check if the email has any spelling or grammar mistakes and if it does its obvious its a spam and don't open the link. Also check the link to see if it seems weird or suspicious.

Check for threats in the email companies such as Facebook and Hotmail don't ever threaten you the maximum they do is warn you.If the email contains a threat its also probably a spam.

I learned the phishing phones is also another problem that exists.Kind of like what we call in Colombia el paseo millonario.

How this relates to my life.

Many times I receive emails from Facebook and Hotmail and Skype with a link telling me to open that link for bla bla bla and I always open the link directly , I have never been Phished before , at least not that I know but because of my habits of directly opening the links I could be at great risk of not intentionally giving out some of my private information and this can be extreamly dangerous. Now that I know all these things about Phishing and why its bad and how it happens I also know how to avoid it and take care of my private life.

    Questions I still have:

How do you know if you have ever been Phished or given your information to a fake page?
